Reno Light Box

Adding Color to 4th Street

The Challenge

The 4th Street district in Reno, Nevada, had an industrial, somewhat dull atmosphere, lacking vibrant visual elements to help bring the area to life. The Arts and Culture department sought creative proposals for their yearly signal box public art project to bring color and energy to this part of the city, encouraging a more welcoming and lively environment for locals and visitors alike.

I had the opportunity to contribute by designing and painting a colorful lettering mural on a signal box in the district. My goal was to add brightness and energy to the area through my art, using bold, vibrant colors and dynamic lettering to create a standout piece. The mural not only enhanced the aesthetic of the district but also contributed to a revitalization of the area. Since the completion of the mural, the district has seen an influx of successful retail and restaurant businesses, further cementing the positive impact of public art on community growth and transformation.
