Mood Hair Studio sought a brand overhaul to better reflect the bold new direction they were taking. Aiming to become the premier destination for premium haircuts and styling in Northern Nevada, they needed their brand to match the high-end vibe they wanted to convey. The challenge was to create a logo that captured the sophistication, modernity, and upscale services of the salon, while also appealing to their target market and standing out in a competitive beauty industry.
I developed a refined and contemporary logo that exudes luxury, professionalism, and creativity, aligning with the salon's vision of providing top-tier styling services. The logo combines elegant typography with a subtle, artistic element that speaks to the studio’s focus on personalized and transformative experiences. This new visual identity not only enhances the brand’s appearance but also positions Mood Hair Studio as the go-to destination for high-quality haircare in Northern Nevada.

Brand Discovery
We began the identity design project with a discovery session, where we explored the business’s core services and the specific problems it solves for its target audience. During this session, we discussed the studio's goals, pain points, and defined the ideal customer. Through in-depth conversations, we uncovered what makes Mood Hair Studio unique and the purpose driving its existence. By leveraging data and research, we developed a strategic roadmap that would guide the brand’s success and ensure its position as a leader in the luxury hair industry.
Craft Haircuts
Mood Hair Studio’s business model revolves around creating a premium, sustainable hair experience. The studio differentiates itself by specializing in tailored haircuts for women, focusing on reducing the need for excessive products and providing long-lasting, low-maintenance styles. Their goal is to help customers maintain healthy hair, reducing upkeep while delivering beautiful, custom styles. This unique offering became the cornerstone of their brand identity, focusing on expert craftsmanship and longevity.


Stylescapes
Before diving into design solutions, it was essential to capture the right emotional tone and visual direction for the brand. We developed stylescapes to explore the feelings and aesthetics the studio wanted to evoke. The goal was to create a brand that radiated trust, warmth, and sophistication, while still maintaining a modern, high-end edge. By using multiple stylescapes, we had a visual framework that allowed us to gather the best elements from each to build a cohesive and unique identity that truly represented the essence of the brand.
Logo Concepts
I presented four logo concepts to the client, each offering a distinct visual identity aligned with the brand’s vision. Each concept reflected a different style and tone, but the third concept (bottom left) resonated most with the brand’s core values. It perfectly captured the idea of creating a welcoming and premium experience while communicating the expertise of the studio in specialized, high-quality haircuts. This concept became the foundation for the final logo design.


Mood's New Logo
The final logo features a carefully crafted serif typeface that establishes trust and professionalism. The unique characteristics of the wordmark visually symbolize the studio’s expertise in haircuts. Specifically, the head serif of the "M" and the ascender of the "D" are subtly shaped to resemble a blade edge, a direct nod to their specialization in precision haircuts. The heavy weight of the typeface adds presence and ensures the logo stands out in a competitive local market, making it a memorable and effective mark for the studio.
